Michael’s Astronomical Albedo: Item Idem & Sacha Leong to Orbit The Earth
Illumination of astral bodies, suns and other stars, is always measured from behind the observing object. High budget films popularize physics notions such as “The God Particle,” but have the actors who play scientists or the novelist who simplify their thoughts ever sought to measure the light that will carry on after Michael Jackson’s death. If we are still recording light from the beginnings of the universe (Response: Thanks be to Hubble), then will his star ever fade.
Architect Sacha Leong, one half of the Post Office design duo, and artist Item Idem conceived the “satellite of gold” and worked with visualizer Justin Wilson of Oba Wilson to develop this entry to The Michael Jackson Monument Design Competition. I’ll not parse their words (below), but do implore the world that a ritualistic tethering of time, space, and pop is definitely needed.
